Now that you've explored your family tree, maybe you noticed a few dead ends that you're interested in researching? This video will help explain the two different methods of finding and entering data into our family tree.
-In summary-
First Method: Talk to family, and see what records we have accumulated. If you have any vital records, it would be wonderful to have them scanned. Then you could add it to the individuals profile to be preserved indefinitely.
Second Method: Research the database on Familysearch.com. If you know the name of the individual you are researching, you can type in their information under the "Find" tab.
Sometimes it's better to be less specific. If you narrow your search too much, it might weed out a record you were looking for. A name and general date (Example: Before 1940) is usually all you need.
But what about those holes in the family tree that you don't know their names? How can you find people that you don't know anything about? This is where you'll have to employ a little detective work. Visit my next post to get hints at how to start.
